Welcome to Your Newborn Photography Session Guide

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! I’m so excited to capture these precious early moments for you. This guide will help you prepare for your newborn session and ensure it’s a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.

What to Expect During Your Session

  • Timing:
Newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first 5-14 days after birth. This is when your baby is still sleepy and can be gently posed for those adorable, timeless shots.

  • Session Duration:
Sessions typically last 2-3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing a variety of poses.

  • Studio Setup:
My home studio in Coogee is fully equipped with premium props, wraps, backdrops, and everything needed to create unique and stunning portraits.

  • Safety First:
Your baby’s safety is my absolute priority. I have completed Newborn First Aid and handling training and use specialized posing aids, temperature control, and sanitisation to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.

How to Prepare for Your Newborn Session

For Baby:

  • Feeding:
Please feed your baby right before the session. A full belly helps keep them calm and sleepy.

  • Clothing:
Dress your baby in a loose onesie or something easy to remove to avoid marks on their skin.

  • Timing:
Try to keep your baby awake for 1-2 hours before the session to encourage sleep during the shoot.

For Parents and Siblings:

  • Wardrobe:
Wear neutral, solid colors (such as whites, creams, or soft pastels) to keep the focus on your baby. Avoid prints, logos, or bright colors.

  • Hair and Makeup:
If you’d like, feel free to bring light makeup or hair products for touch-ups. I want you to feel as confident and comfortable as possible!

  • Snacks and Comfort:
Bring snacks, water, and any essentials you may need, especially if siblings are joining.

What to Bring

Here’s a checklist to help you pack for the session:

For Baby:

  • Diapers and wipes

  • Extra bottles of formula or expressed milk (if applicable)

  • A pacifier (even if your baby doesn’t usually use one, it can help soothe them during posing)

  • A favourite blanket or keepsake (optional)

For Parents and Siblings:

  • Change of clothes (just in case of any spills or accidents)

  • Snacks and water

  • Any special props or sentimental items you’d like to include in the photos

During the Session

  • Relax and Enjoy:
It’s completely normal for babies to cry, need feeding, or take breaks. I’ll guide you through the process and ensure everything goes smoothly.

  • Poses and Props:
I’ll create a mix of posed and candid shots, using my curated props and backdrops. If you have specific poses or ideas in mind, let me know beforehand.

  • Family Involvement:
Parents and siblings are welcome to join in for a few shots! These make for beautiful, heartfelt memories.

After Your Session

  • Sneak Peek:
Within 48 hours, you’ll receive a sneak peek of your session.

  • Gallery Delivery:
Your fully edited gallery will be ready within 1 week, with options to purchase luxury prints, albums, and wall art.

Final Tips

  • Be prepared for a relaxed and flexible session. Babies run the show, and that’s perfectly okay!

  • If you have any questions or special requests, feel free to reach out to me at any time.

I can’t wait to capture these special moments for you. Thank you for trusting me with your family’s memories!

Warm regards,

Teresa
